Injectables & fillers

Over time, your most distinguishing feature can be overtaken by frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines. Later in life, you may also be prone to deep seated folds and wrinkles that can detract from your best feature. From fine lines to large volume restoration after significant weight loss, we can help you make the most of your natural features.

When looking at the next step for your non-surgical facial rejuvenation using injectables and fillers, we will set out a plan for your ongoing management, including your present condition, your goals and your budget. I will make sure your goals are realistic and achievable. It’s my aim to help you achieve the best results in a gradual and subtle process, rather than pumping you full of products. My skills will help you avoid the look like you’re “getting stuff done”.

In your consultation I will also look at how we can avoid damaging nerves and blood vessels and make sure your appearance is natural in all positions of facial movement, from smiling to talking to laughing and kissing.

Our treatments use injectables including muscle relaxing wrinkle treatments and soft tissue fillers. Both work differently, but most patients prefer to use a combination of both to achieve the best results.

Muscle Relaxing Wrinkle Treatments

These treatments are used for dramatically reducing unwanted wrinkles or frown/smile lines. Reducing excessive perspiration and some chronic recurrent headaches may also be helped with these treatments.

Firstly, we have a consultation to discuss your desired results and explain the small risks involved. The procedure involves the injection of purified forms of botulinum toxin by me, your qualified and experienced doctor. The procedure itself takes a few minutes. You are able to return to non-strenuous activity immediately. The results take effect within 10 days and last on average for three to four months. We always start with a conservative dose to avoid an unnatural appearance.

Lip Enhancement and “Soft-Tissues Fillers”

These treatments are used for subtle enhancement of lips and in the exciting new area of facial reshaping.

During your consultation with our Plastic Surgeon or Cosmetic Physician, we will explain the options for natural appearing enhancement. We will also discuss the small risks, the expected outcome and duration of each treatment. Our aim is to give you a natural appearing face that looks less tired and “empty”, and more fresh and youthful. You may benefit from combining these fillers with other treatments at Dermal Aesthetics Medispa™, and you can also combine these procedures with some cosmetic surgery procedures for improved results.

While there are many injectable types of filler available, we use two types of temporary fillers being hyaluronic acids and poly-L-lactic acid (P.L.L.A).

Hyaluronic Acids

This temporary filler is particularly suitable for the lip area. This filler is made of purified, stabilised hyaluronic acid – a substance found naturally in our bodies. The injectable gel provides volume and contours to the lips, and may reduce deep folds in the cheek or brow. The result is instant, with a period of slight swelling for 24 to 48 hours on average. Depending on the area treated, products last from six months to two years.

Poly-L-lactic-acid (P.L.L.A)

This remarkably durable product is made up of poly-L-lactic acid which has been safely used in the body for more than 15 years. The product is fully biodegradable, and works by stimulating collagen production in the injected area.

This treatment is suitable for creating volume and lifting of the cheek/jowl area and reshaping or enhancing underdeveloped features of the face, such as cheekbones and chin. This product may also be used for correcting small post-operative skin depressions or indented scars. A

series of two to four treatments is required over a period of several months. The results, which last for several years, will take three months on average to gradually fully develop.

Our practice is integrated with Southbank Plastic Surgery Centre.
